Message of Solidarity with the striking workers in the oilfields of Iran

On behalf of the National Education Union (NEU), we salute the determination of the 28,000 workers at oil and gas projects and petrochemical plants who downed tools and walked off the job in South Pars, in the oilfields of the southern provinces and across Iran, as part of a coordinated strike action.

The NEU stands in solidarity with the striking oil workers taking action to defend themselves and to voice their concerns at poor conditions, unpaid wages, daily reduction of household purchasing power and empty promises by the employers.

We wish to convey the NEU’s heartfelt solidarity and support as you work to secure the rights of your members. We wish you a just resolution to these very serious matters.
