Iranian officials denied any involvement in the events, which have escalated tensions in the region.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-exrw3m evys1bk0\">[<em class=\"css-2fg4z9 e1gzwzxm0\">Read: U.S. Says Video Shows Iran Was Involved<\/em>]<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-exrw3m evys1bk0\">In an interview broadcast on Friday by \u201cFox &amp; Friends,\u201d President Trump directly accused Tehran,\u00a0saying, \u201cIran did do it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-exrw3m evys1bk0\">\u201cYou saw the boat,\u201d he said. \u201cIt has Iran written all over it.\u201d Mr. Trump added: \u201cThey didn\u2019t want the evidence left behind. They don\u2019t know that we have things that we can detect in the dark that work very well. We have that. We want to get them back to the table if they want to go back. I\u2019m ready when they are. I\u2019m in no rush.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-exrw3m evys1bk0\">On Friday, meanwhile, as other nations like China called for an easing of tensions in the region Yemen\u2019s Houthi faction launched its second attack in days against an airport in Saudi Arabia. We also reiterate our commitment to the freedom of navigation, which must absolutely be preserved.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<aside class=\"css-o6xoe7\"><\/aside>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"css-190ncxp\">But Britain is giving the American explanation the benefit of the doubt, said Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt, who is seeking to become leader of the Conservative Party.<\/div>\n<div class=\"css-1fanzo5 StoryBodyCompanionColumn\">\n<div class=\"css-53u6y8\">\n<p class=\"css-exrw3m evys1bk0\">\u201cThis is deeply worrying and comes at a time of already huge tension,\u201d Mr. Hunt said in a statement on Friday. \u201cI have been in contact with Pompeo and, while we will be making our own assessment soberly and carefully, our starting point is obviously to believe our U.S. allies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-exrw3m evys1bk0\">Anwar Gargash, the minister of state for foreign affairs in the United Arab Emirates, wrote on Twitter Thursday that the attack was \u201ca worrying development and a dangerous escalation that calls for the international community to move towards ensuring regional security and stability.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-exrw3m evys1bk0\">A Dutch company, Boskalis, said it would salvage the two tankers near the Strait of Hormuz.
