{"id":2826,"date":"2022-08-05T07:45:19","date_gmt":"2022-08-05T06:45:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/codir.net\/?p=2826"},"modified":"2022-08-05T07:45:19","modified_gmt":"2022-08-05T06:45:19","slug":"breaking-shocking-demolition-of-homes-and-land-grabs-signals-intensifying-persecution-of-irans-baha%ca%bcis%ef%bf%bc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/codir.net\/?p=2826","title":{"rendered":"Breaking: Shocking demolition of homes and land grabs signals intensifying persecution of Iran\u2019s Bah\u00e1\u02bc\u00eds\ufffc"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>BIC GENEVA \u2014 In a cruel escalation, and just two days after previous attacks on Bah\u00e1\u02bc\u00eds across Iran, up to 200 Iranian government and local agents have sealed off the village of Roushankouh, in Mazandaran province, where a large number of Bah\u00e1\u02bc\u00eds live, and are using heavy earthmoving equipment to demolish their homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Roads into and out of the village have been blocked.<\/li><li>Anyone who tried to challenge the agents were arrested and handcuffed.<\/li><li>Agents have confiscated the mobile devices of those present and prohibited filming.<\/li><li>Neighbors have been warned to stay in their homes and barred from filming or photographing.<\/li><li>Four homes that were under construction have already been destroyed.<\/li><li>The authorities are installing robust metal fences to restrict access of the Bah\u00e1\u02bc\u00eds to their own homes.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The Bah\u00e1\u02bc\u00eds in Roushankouh have been targeted many times in the past with land confiscations and home demolitions. But this move follows weeks of intensifying persecution of the Bah\u00e1\u02bc\u00eds: over 100 have been either raided or arrested in recent weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe ask everyone to raise their voice and call for these dreadful acts of blatant persecution to be immediately stopped. Every day there has been fresh news of persecution of the Bah\u00e1\u02bc\u00eds in Iran, demonstrating unmistakably that the Iranian authorities have a step-by-step plan that they are implementing, first blatant lies and hate speech, then raids and arrests, and today land grabs, occupations, and the destruction of homes,\u201d said Diane Ala\u2019i, representative of the Bah\u00e1\u2019\u00ed International Community (BIC) to the United Nations in Geneva, referring to the past several weeks. \u201cWhat will be next?
