The Iranian teachers’ movement, one of the most organised and widespread labour movements in the country, has always been at the centre of attention of international institutions. Despite severe pressures and repressions, including arrests, imprisonment, dismissals, and other threats, this movement, by steadfastly pursuing its demands, has been able to convey the voice of justice-seeking Iranian teachers to the world. This achievement is the result of the resistance and steadfastness of courageous and responsible teachers across the country who, despite heavy costs, continue to stand firm on the path to achieving labor and social justice.
In the publication of reports and letters of support from international institutions, the names of a limited number of activists are sometimes highlighted. This council emphasises that all struggling teachers deserve equal support and attention. For example, in the recent impactful and revealing report by the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights defenders regarding the situation of teachers in Iran, which led to widespread awareness globally, despite the importance of this action, the names of some influential and resilient teachers of the movement and many other trade union activists have been overlooked.
The Coordination Council reminds that such reports are independently prepared based on research and sources from international institutions, and the council has not had any involvement in the selection or highlighting of names. However, this council has always strived to ensure that the voices of all imprisoned, expelled, and other teachers reach the world in its official correspondence and collaborations with international institutions.
The Coordination Council reminds that such reports are independently prepared based on research and sources from international institutions, and the council has not had any involvement in the selection or highlighting of names. However, this council (ICCTTA) has always strived to ensure that the voices of all imprisoned, expelled, and other teachers reach the world in its official correspondence and collaborations with international institutions.
The #Coordination_Council_of_Iranian_Teachers’_Trade_Associations (ICCTTA) reiterates that all justice-seeking teachers, without any discrimination, are supported by this council. We believe that every teacher who has paid a price in the path of realizing their trade union rights and social justice has a valuable share in this movement and their voice should be heard.
While thanking the support of other international institutions, this council requests them to have more communication with the Coordination Council, the International Relations Working Group, and the representative of this council in EI, as much as possible, in the preparation of reports and letters of support, so that they can succeed in preparing more comprehensive reports.
With a collective will and continuous effort, we will continue our path towards the realization of justice, dignity, and the professional rights of Iranian teachers.
