Anisha Asadollahi, Iranian trade unionist, must be freed!

CODIR Join Iranian trade union movement and Calls for the immediate release of Iranian trade unionist: Anisha Asadollahi must be freed

Syndicate of Workers of the Tehran and Suburbs Bus Company (Sherkat-e Vahed)

Anisha Asadollahi, a teacher, translator, and supporter of the labour movement, who was unjustly sentenced to five years and eight months in prison on two charges of “assembly and collusion against national security” and “propaganda against the system,” remains incarcerated.

In May 2022, a large number of labour and teacher activists, including Anisha Asadollahi, as well as several members of the Syndicate of Workers of the Sherkat-e Vahed and the Coordinating Council of Iranian Teachers’ Trade Organizations, were arrested by security forces and prosecuted. Simultaneously, two French trade union activists, Ms. Cécile Kohler and Mr. Jacques Paris, members of the French National Federation of Education, Culture and Vocational Training – Force Ouvrière (FNEC FP-FO), who had travelled to Iran for tourism and had held public, friendly meetings with a number of teachers and union members, were also arrested on baseless and entirely unfounded charges.

Since that time, all those arrested have been gradually released. Fortunately, Davoud Razavi, a member of the Syndicate’s Board of Directors, was also freed on November 4th (13 Aban), and there are reports confirming the release of Cécile Kohler and Jacques Paris. Currently, Anisha Asadollahi is the only individual still incarcerated in connection with this baseless case.

The Syndicate of Workers of the Tehran and Suburbs Bus Company (Sherkat-e Vahed) demands the immediate and unconditional release of Anisha Asadollahi. We also demand the unconditional freedom of all labor, teacher, civil, and student activists.

    • In hope of establishing justice in Iran and throughout the world.
    • The solution for workers and toilers is unity and organization.
