Stop the War on Iran Immediately

We, the undersigned—academics, cultural figures, and human rights and political activists from across the world—declare our firm opposition to the military conflict between the United States/Israel and the Islamic Republic of Iran. We demand an immediate and unconditional end to all military operations.

The ongoing military strikes and the buildup of forces in the region have already resulted in the loss of life and the destruction of vital infrastructure. We reject the logic of military intervention, which history has shown leads only to prolonged suffering, the displacement of millions, and the further destabilization of an already volatile region.

We believe that war is the ultimate enemy of human rights and democratic aspirations. Military aggression provides a pretext for increased domestic repression and stifles the independent voices of students, workers, and activists within Iran who are struggling for their own rights and future. Foreign intervention does not “liberate”; it destroys the foundations of civil society.

The path to peace lies not in the expansion of conflict or the deployment of more troops, but in a return to international law and genuine diplomatic engagement. 

We call on the international community, the United Nations, and the governments involved to:

1. Cease all military actions and hostile rhetoric immediately.
2. Withdraw additional military reinforcements from the region.
3. Prioritize humanitarian aid and the protection of civilian lives above strategic interests.

We stand in solidarity with the people of the region who are the primary victims of this escalation. The cycle of violence must be broken before it descends into a catastrophic regional war.
