Coordinating Council of Iranian Teacher Trade Associations (CCITTA) Wednesday, February 4, 2026
A child is not a criminal, and a prison is no place for a child. A child’s place is at home, in school, and among family and friends. The detention, interrogation, intimidation, and exercise of violence against students and adolescents are not mere “security measures”; they constitute the blatant suppression of children and a gross, organized violation of children’s rights.
The continued detention and harassment of children are not merely an assault on their individual liberties; this policy directly targets the psychological and social future of generations and undermines the very foundations of social solidarity and security.
To date, the Coordinating Council of Iranian Teacher Trade Associations has documented 143 children and adolescents killed during the crackdowns—a harrowing statistic that clearly demonstrates that the detention of these children is a continuation of the same policy that led to their killing.
The imprisonment of children is the extension of child-killing.
The Coordinating Council of Iranian Teacher Trade Associations categorically condemns the detention of students and adolescents. We demand the immediate and unconditional release of all detained students, an immediate halt to the imprisonment of children, and an end to the policy of systemic suppression of children.
Do not destroy the future of these children.
